Wanna Learn This New Way How to Pray??

ERRABODAY grab a pen and paper! Find a quiet place where no one can hear you. (I like praying out loud.) Y'all ready for this??!!

Based from my devotional book Whispers of Hope by Beth Moore. I'm basically summarizing the Introduction of the book.

This is called the P.R.A.I.S.E format of praying. The acronym stands for Praise, Repentance, Acknowledgement, Intercession, Supplication for self, and Equipping.

Praise: It's nice to begin your prayer by reminding yourself who you're praying to. Tell God who He is! I'm pretty sure He knows who He is, but He wonders if you know who He is. He is fully capable of doing everything you can think of according to His will. Tell Him how great He is and why! You can recite hymns, Bible verses, worship chorus, or just say what's in your heart. Don't fit the mold, BE THE MOLD.

Repentance: After spending several minutes of worship and praise, enter a time of confession. I tend to combine praise and repentance together. I see how great God is and how inadequate I am to His glory. Do what you want, but it's very healthy to enter into a time of confession for your sins. Moore explains it better:
"As you become increasingly sensitive to the Holy Spirit, you will discern times when your prayer life needs to begin with repentance rather than praise. Your heart will feel burdened with sin and anxious for relief. NO MATTER WHAT, practice a time of confession and repentance DAILY! We gain victory over sin by allowing God to treat our problems in their earlier stages. Resist letting anything build up. Confess sins of the thought life such as wrong motives, negativism, a critical spirit, or even the right words with the wrong heart. Let God catch things in early stages so we can be Spirit-filled people on a DAILY basis. Remember, the only thing whiter than snow is a freshly cleaned child of God (Ps. 51:7)"
Acknowledgement: VERYY IMPORTANT! After praising Him and being cleaned by His Holy Spirit, you are ready to submit to God's authority. Acknowledge His right and authority to rule everyday of your life. Acknowledging God's specific authority over your life is not the same as praising Him. You can praise God all day by listening to Christian music, going to church, or reciting Bible verses. But it means nothing if you don't mean it. You have to deliberately submit into His reign. Somehow, acknowledge that He is the Lord of your Life. Don't skip this step!

Intercession: This is the time when you pray for others. For this part I almost talk to myself about everything that happened during my day. I let all thoughts and concerns that I have for others just flow out. I mean everyone has different ways of praying for others so do what you want!

Supplication for Self: The time when you pray for yourself.

Equipping: Finish your prayer by asking God to equip you for the day.

Although the acronym doesn't contain THANKS, find a way to incorporate gratitude towards God.

GOOD LUCK!

BTdubbs this is a good devo book.
