But here's the thing about ombres. They really damage your hair. "How?" might you ask:
- The hair stylist 'teases' your hair in order to give the ombre a 'random' demarcation line. By 'tease', they take a comb and brush it against your natural hair flow.
- So imagine brushing some of your hair up. Some of the brushed up hair forms a large messy knot. It kinda looks like an afro.
- Combing out those tangles rips some of it out.
- Not only does that your hair get completely tangled, 'teasing' shatters your hair into millions of 'split ends'. By 'split ends', I imply single hair strands 'splitting' into many mini strands.
- Split ends cause hair to break off.
- Then when they put the bleach in your hair, it sucks out the fibers and proteins in these hair strands. You're left with damaged, chemically processed hair.
- Damaged, chemically processed hair is more prone to split ends. (Refer back to #5)
...yep. The cost of beauty.
Now that I'm done with that phase in my life, I want my natural hair color back. I buy black hair dye to mimic my natural hair color.
I want my natural hair color because it is similar to my virgin hair. I want virgin hair back. By 'virgin hair', I imply hair that has never been chemically processed.
It is so uncommon that virgin hair is extremely expensive. Young girls sell their virgin hair for twenty dollars or so; then the buyer sells it to salons or hairdressers. The 'hair buyers' make at least one hundred dollars for this hair (most likely more). These salons and hairdressers charge thousands of dollars to professionally insert this hair into their affluent clients.
However, no one buys chemically processed hair. It is worthless in this business. Once you chemically process your hair, it's not considered 'virgin hair' anymore.
It's kind of like one's virginity. Once you damage the purity of the body, it is never 'pure' anymore.
But I'm glad that un-virgin hair is different from an un-virgin person. When I try to restore my hair to its natural color, the 'natural color' eventually fades. What's left is the reminiscence of chemically treated, damaged hair. You see, I'm trying to give the illusion of "un-damaged hair" by damaging it even more.
It's impossible for my un-virgin hair to ever be restored to its virginity.
One can say the same about virginity. Once you slip up and lose it, you're never a virgin. You are dirty, corrupted, damaged goods.
Yet, something supernaturally occurs when you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior.
Your un-virgin self was crucified with Christ when you accept Jesus in your life. Your un-virgin self dies, and your pure self is revived. You live by who lives in you: Christ. You live by faith that you are of Christ.
If you are of Christ, then you are no longer "dirty, corrupted, or damaged goods".
You hear that? You're a new creation! Isn't that awesome? You're free from your past, so I urge you to live as if you're free from your past.
